HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!
We just talked to the guys from Great Big Sea, an East Coast treasure!
They are perhaps the most fun, lively group of musicians I've ever interviewed.
The thing I like about these guys the most, is that even though they're a Celtic Rock band, they're also very Canadian. Their latest CD "The Hard and The Easy" is not poppy at all...Its all Celtic Folk. Yet, the disc is selling. To me, that says something about Great Big Sea, they're a group of guys sticking to their roots, and not being swayed by any other forces that plague the music industry.
That being said here are a couple of highlights I have to share with you about my interview.
The first is Sean McCann playing a precussion Celtic instrument called the "bodhran". He is apparantly one of the best bodhran players in the world!! He gave me a sample of his skill, and with such respect for his craft, he called his drum 'the largest contraceptive known to man!!'
And the second highlight is my awful attempt at doing an Irish accent. All I can say is I tried, which says a lot since the guys didn't take my offer in trying a Indian accent.
Anyhoo...
