Star! Daily Blog

The View just got a WHOLE lot more interesting!

Blog by Dina Pugliese, Friday, May 05, 2006

Hello all. So, I just got back from the Daytime Emmy Awards in Hollywood and  the red carpet was buzzing about Rosie O'Donnell. Just when we thought she was done with daytime  - she surprises us all by getting one of the most sought after gigs on the small screen, replacing Meredith Vieira as co-host of  The View.

Here was the sentiment on the red carpet - people said they couldn't wait to see Rosie back on the tube and were even more interested in hearing what she has to say (seeing as she's one of the few celebs who is not afraid to speak her mind and take a firm stand on hot topics....George Dubya  watch out!)

All of that is well and good, but the REAL issue...the SUPER interesting thing that all of us will be curious to see unfold - is the chemistry (or lack thereof ) that will no doubt errupt on set.

It's inevitable -  Rosie has four strong personalities to contend with and there may not be enough KOOSH balls in the world to use as a venting device for the oustpoken host.

'The Real Survivor" - let's begin with Elisabeth Hasselbeck - if she thought eating bugs on the island was a challenge, good luck stomaching Rosie, who won't have any of the hardcore Republican dia'tribe' (get it?) she serves up daily. She better start building a strong alliance with babs now or she'll get torched (okay...one too many puns).

'Who's Line is it anyway?" - Joy Behar vs. Rosie O'D - who will outwit and outlast?  These two acid-tongued comedians will either really hate or really love each other...there will be no grey.

"Bosom Buddies" - i'm assuming Bawbwa Wawters and Rosie are great friends or she would have never got the gig....the cool thing is that unlike Meredith, Rosie won't be afraid to disagree with barbara and put her in her place.

"Ultimate Fighting" - her feud with Star Jones will be the one to watch. Rosie has already publicly slammed the ever-shrinking Star in the past. When Star wouldn't fess up to the real reason behind her dramatic weight loss Rosie decided to hit below the belt saying that Star has never done a push up in her life and couldn't have lost it all on her own.....ouch!

That said, I found it rather interesting that all of the ladies of The View opted to bypass the media on the red carpet with one exception - Star Jones. Hmm.....wonder if that's because Star knows her days are numbered and needs all the press she can get.....insiders say she isn't the most embraced person on set...only time will tell.....
