Sean goes to FASHION CARES!
Blog by Sean Gehon, Tuesday, June 06, 2006
What? You're sending me to fashion cares... two questions. Are you drunk, and more importantly... what do I wear?! When they told me I was going to be covering one of the best parties, one of the best fashion shows, for one of the best causes out there... I thought they had gone mad. I'm new! I shouldn't be covering anything more famous than a muppet ok. Seriously guys... paranoia just set in. BUT, in true Sean fashion, you only panic for five seconds, shake your ass... and watch yourself.
I had to be prepared, be stylish, and above all... be ready to party (as far as work will let you party anyway... ... ...) My goal was to be the most prepared, the most exciting, and the most interesting at that party in terms of media. I like to believe that I succeeded in most of my goals. I researched. I prepared. I studied. I read until my eyes hurt. And I was ready to go. The next thing to do... was be prepared to look fabulous so that when I met the lovely Pamela Anderson, she would be like 'DAMN, we have to talk to this kid.' It was then, I headed to the CHUM building to set off on adventures with Sholeh and Claudette (two of the fabulous producers at Star! Daily), and our camera man Basil, to... FASHION CARES.
Fashion cares is possibly the craziest mad house of life. We had our crew, I was miked, and I had my goals in mind... PAMELA ANDERSON. We soon learned she 'wasn't going to talk to the press'. Ummm... why? It's my first fashion cares and I'm already being denied. I don't feel as though this is a positive start. Whatever. She looked hot. She smiled at me... we're counting that as a first meeting. It counts, whatever, back off my delusions. This took place at the photo op moment where all the big names (Divine Brown, Philosopher Kings, Jody Wately, Jennifer Holliday, and Phillip Ing) posed for a little moment. It was then... that my intuitive, super reporter skills... JUMPED into action. Sholeh was all 'we have to get to the show... find as many stars as possible'. I'm not gonna lie i was zoning in and out... and i was like... Ummm... Shouldn't we talk to Divine Brown... she's standing right there. So Sholeh grabs her (because she was leaving) and is like... 'DO you have time to talk to us'. Her people hesitated because she had to get running... but Divine got wide eyed and was all 'For Sean? Hell yes we have time.' As a lovely Side note... Divine Brown voted for me to win on VJ Search. Much love to Divine ;)
Anyway, Divine was a peach. Cute, fun and awesome. After a quick interview we ran our butts over to the fashion show. And let me tell you, Rhino (AKA Sholeh) was on a rampage. I swear, anyone would have gotten in her way... craziness would have gone down. Back to the adventure, soon after we arrived, the show took place... and let me tell you: Fashion Cares is worth all the hype. The fashion show was extravagant, exciting, awesome, and just down right surreal. You always see a crazy fashion show on TV, or dream about parties like this, but when you actually get to see one. HOLY MAN. Insanity.
After the show it was back to work and go go go. Interviewing some AWESOME people like Paul Venoit (Canada's Next Top Model Judge), Fefe Dobson, Jarvis Church, and Dan and Dean Caten (pictured above with yours truly). Fefe, who I adore and who also voted for me on the VJ Search, is a doll. Seriously the girl is so cute, so laid back, so funny... I just want to put her in a purse, carry her around and call her Tinkerbell.
Dan and Dean... how to describe them. Basically i think insane works well. Those two are so crazy, so high energy, so funny, so out there... I had the most fun time with them. Let's be real here... they weren't on something, they were high on life. I wanted to believe that they were on something, but you could just tell they were crazy, quirky, and strangely adorable. I'd like to point out that I was taller than them, which never happens. There was crazy mad love in our interview... and that's part of it pictured above. They were probably one of my favorite interviews so far... which could have a lot to do with the party atmosphere. It's easier to interview people who are there to have fun. They also designed Pamela's stunning dress. Gotta love them.
I'm done babbling. Rest assured. Fashion Cares + Sean + famous people + a camera = RIDICULOUS FUN.
