The suspense is over, the winner has been announced and Andrea is Canada’s Next Top Model. Way to go girl!
While this show in itself was challenge, the real work lies ahead for this model wannabe. The press interviews will end, so will the autograph sessions and slowly the spotlight on the waif-of-a-girl from Whitby will begin to fade.
Winning Canada’s Next Top Model isn’t a ticket to Vogue cover shoots or the catwalks of Paris fashion week. She’s not runway ready or cut out for a cover just yet.
The show opened that metaphorical door to the seemingly impenetrable world of fashion ever so slightly. It’s now up to Andrea to walk through and face what’s on the other side with perseverance and hard work.
Personally, I’m proud of our girl. Her drastic transformation from a shy, introverted, awkward young girl into a beautiful, confident young woman won the hearts of the judges and more importantly Canadians from coast to coast. I sincerely wish our Top Model all the best and hope to see her grace the covers of all the big magazines and walk the walk on the runways of the world. It’s all up to her now.
