I used to work with this amazing weather reporter named Lloyd Lindsay Young. This guy's been in the biz for 25 years and taught me a little something about publicity. He said "Husein, there are 3 kinds of publicity. And there's only one of them you don't want. There's good publicity, bad publicity and no publicity. What you don't want is NO publicity." Well Lloyd, there's definitely truth to that statement and K-Fed's debut performance at the Teen Choice Awards proves that point. Here's why -- Kevin has had a bad rap (no pun intended) from the get-go. No one really embraced his marriage to America's Pop Princess. I would even argue that Britney never really embraced it! From the alleged heavy partying, to the borrowing of Brit's cash, K-Fed's had a hard time. And now he wants a career in music. His track "POPOZOA" gets leaked on the net, and of course was immediately slammed by critics and bloggers all over the world, but Kev kept on trucking. When you think about it, there really hasn't been anything decent said about Mr. Spears. Even I'm having trouble saying something nice, because all I know of this dude are the negative rumours I've heard. But I will say that whatever is going on in his little brain, its working. You heard me, its working. The Teen Choice Awards decided to close the show with a live performance of Kevin Federline. Other superstars (far more talented) were there to perform... Rhianna and Nelly Furtado! But K-Fed got the honors of being the final act. And who out there doesn't want to see him try and rock the mic? I know I do. I waited and watched all the awards and all the performances and all the speeches -- As painful as it was.. I knew it was worth the wait to watch Kevin do this thing. So most of the viewers wanted him to fail. So they wanted to see how bad it was. So they wanted something to talk about the next morning with all their colleagues at work or on blog websites (me). The point is, he performed, and we're all talking about it! Now its up to Kevin to use this to his advantage. Here's my advice to Federmeister... If you want to sell records, your (clear throat) "talent" alone won't take you there. But maybe if you throw in a little personal touch, a little juice about what its like being you, you know a little spice of life, just a touch or ...AHH, I'm just gonna say it, rap about Britney my man... And you'll do okay.
