Michael J. Fox appears in election ad: Political nastiness ensues

Rush Limbaugh made derisive statements against Michael J. Fox on Monday, criticizing the actor’s TV ad urging people to vote for the senate candidate who supports stem cell research. The right wing radio pundit accused Fox, who is suffering from Parkinson’s disease, of faking his symptoms.
"Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting... He's exaggerating the effects of the disease. He is moving all around and shaking….It is purely an act….This is the only time I have ever seen Michael J. Fox portray any of the symptoms of the disease he has. This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox."
Fox’s TV ad urges Missouri voters to consider Missouri Democratic Senate candidate Claire McCaskill. Fox supports McCaskill’s stance on embryonic stem cell research, and the hope that funding more research will find a cure for Parkinson’s Disease.
When Limbaugh was persuaded by critics that Fox was not faking, and that involuntary movement is one of the effects of the degenerative disease, he issued this ridiculous, backhanded apology: "I will bigly (sic), hugely admit that I was wrong, and I will apologize to Michael J. Fox if I am wrong in characterizing his behavior on this commercial as an act.”
Limbaugh’s “apology” was rendered a little less poignant when he accused Fox of allowing his illness to be exploited by politics. No word on whether Limbaugh’s apparent mental deficit is also being exploited for partisan gains.
