Britney Spears has gone from naughty schoolgirl, to naughty sex symbol, to just plain naughty. Over the past three years, we’ve watched as Britney Spears steadily declined from pop star to train wreck before our eyes. Ever since Ms. Spears got married to Kevin Federline, the media has been quite unkind to the former pop superstar. It’s difficult to imagine a news day without Britney Spears. The former Mrs. Federline has done everything from late night partying without panties, to shaving her head, to two failed attempts at rehab. Many fans of Britney have turned tail and jumped ship, so can Britney Spears really have a comeback?

Recently, Timbaland announced that he and Justin Timberlake would love to work on Britney's comeback record. Timbaland and Timberlake are among this year’s hottest acts. Both Timbaland and Justin have had a string of hits with the likes of "Promiscuous" (Timbaland and Nelly Furtado), "Sexyback" (Justin Timberlake), and their recent collaboration with Nelly Furtado, called "Give It To Me". With music royalty like these two, it’s entirely possible that Britney could have a few good songs under her belt, as long as she’s willing to put the work in.

With all the negative press Britney has been getting lately, a man can only wonder how the public will react to a new single. Many of the singles released by Spears have become huge hits, rarely missing from the top ten on any count down. Spears’ career is marked by a series of successes including four albums to debut at number one. Perhaps Britney is no longer famous for her music, but at one time, audiences loved shaking their groove thangs to her hits. Can Britney make the comeback needed to put her back on top?

I’m not sure if the world is willing to believe Britney anymore. Often the pop star portrayed herself as an innocent country girl that just happened to have a rocking body, some killer dance moves, and a knack for lip synching. Nobody is going to buy it anymore. With Britney’s constant in-your-face tabloid exposure, it’s a wonder if we’ll ever be able to overlook her exploits and focus on the music. Britney has often proven that she isn’t the most talented singer in the world, but she, like Madonna, is a born performer. From outrageous costumes to intricate dance routines, Britney Spears has proven that she has what it takes to be one of the standout performers of our time… but does she have it in her to clean up her act?

I don’t really have any faith left in Britney Spears. Once she shaved her head - that was it. It’s understandable that a girl would want to go out and party every now and then, but to do so every night and wind up lacking both hair and panties is unforgivable. Britney has often given her fans promises of cleaning up her act, behaving like a good girl, and actually parenting her two small children. Unfortunately for anyone who believed that tale, we’ve seen what’s become of her. People make mistakes, but as a parent, you’re not often afforded that liberty.

The only thing I can see making any difference in the future of Britney Spears is an amazing lead single. If anybody has the ability to give Britney a comeback single, it’s probably Justin Timberlake and Timbaland. It may be an unlikely pairing due to Spears and Timberlake’s former relationship, but with Britney’s infamy and Justin’s musical talent, we may be surprised in the long run.

My advice to Britney… GO AWAY! Get better, take care of your kids, and calm the hell down. You’ve been given everything you’ve ever wanted, and you’re throwing it away for a chance to get down and party. Is it really worth it? Grow out your hair, pay for some good extensions, and get back to focusing on your health and the welfare of your family. Good luck, Britney Spears. You’re going to need it.
