It’s rare that we get to witness a surprising moment in history. Fortunately, or sometimes unfortunately, some of these moments stand out in our minds and are given the opportunity to be remembered for years to come. Recently, perhaps the most shocking moment in recent history has happened. What was once considered to be more unlikely than Roseanne Barr walking on water… has truly occurred. Britney Spears has released a new single, and it’s actually good.
Believe it or not, there was a time when Britney Spears was known asr more than just fodder for the tabloids. She was once the hottest act in the music industry. According to the United World Chart Britney has earned seven number one singles and sold more than seventy-six million albums world-wide, making her the eighth best selling woman in American music history. Unfortunately for Britney, that has all come to a screeching halt. With Britney’s recent antics, including constant partying, shaving her head, and flashing her nether regions to the general public more often than not, it’s no surprise that Britney Spears has become the laughing stock of the music industry.
For months now we’ve been hearing rumours surrounding the musical return of Britney Spears. Speculation has been swirling about Britney’s chances at successfully making it back as the pop star we knew and adored. Unfortunately, all hope seemed lost as she continued to spin further and further out of control. But now, a song called Gimme More has found its way to the internet. This could be the the lead single off Britney’s new album, which she’s expected to unveil at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards on September 9th.
I’ve often spoken out about my general disappointment in Britney’s behaviour and steady decline into the depths of white trash. However, the one thing that I’ve always remained firm about is my love of her music. Whether or not you agree is fine, but I’ve supported the fact that she has churned out some great pop music during her time at the top of the charts. As she started to decline, my faith in her comeback has started to fail. All it takes for Britney to stay on top of her music career is to release a hot single and the rest will work itself out. Luckily for Britney, Gimme More is actually an awesome track.
People have different tastes in music and that’s fine. I don’t review music professionally but I know what I like, and I know what I want to dance to, and Gimme More is both. Not only does the song have a great club track feel, but it’s soething I find myself listening to over and over again. As awesome as I think this song is, I’m not sure this song is really the slam dunk that Britney needs to cement her comeback, but it is definitely a sign of positive things to come.
Britney Spears is finally making a positive turn after months of negative press and negative behaviors. At this rate it’s going to take a strong sense of determination from Britney and a hot album to cement her place as the princess of pop. Let’s face it, if Britney can come back after all her misadventures over the past year, maybe there’s hope for Michael Jackson
