Wednesday, August 13, 2008Celebrity princess Paris Hilton is being sued, ironically, for promoting... too little. Worldwide Entertainment Group filed a lawsuit Tuesday, alleging that the 27-year-old heiress owes $75,000 in damages for not fulfilling publicity obligations for the movie National Lampoon's Pledge This!. According to the paperwork filed at a Miami district court, Hilton and her company, Paris Hilton Entertainment Inc., were paid $1 million for "acting services" and "reasonable promotion and publicity" for the sorority film released straight to DVD in 2006. The Simple Life actress starred in the small-screen flick and received executive producer credits. Jason Moore, the diva's manager could not be reached for comment. The centre-of attention: Hilton's fame (fueled by her daddy's empire) stems from a slew of D-list movies – Bottoms Up, House of Wax, The Hottie & the Nottie, etc. – and her reality TV series The Simple Life. She has attempted to become a Pop Star, however that failed – Paris was released in 2006, topping out for one week at number 5 on the Billboard 200 Charts, and selling few albums.
