Friday, May 09, 2008Hollywood's most controversial child pornography case – the one involving R. Kelly – opened this morning after six years of repeated delays. A videotape allegedly showing the R&B singer having sex with a young girl surfaced in 2002 forcing Chicago police to investigate and lay charges. But it looks like prosecutors will have a challenging time in court as the now 23-year-old alleged victim denies it was her in the video. As well Kelly's attorneys haven't admitted it's their client in the video either. Jury selection started early today in Chicago court and the trial is expected to last several weeks as supporting evidence surfaces. If convicted, the 41-year-old Grammy winning performer faces up to 15 years in prison. "Every waking moment, he's always had this hanging over his head," Kelly's spokesperson, Allan Mayer, said to the Associated Press. Summary by: Jocelyn Nespiak for Star!
