Monday, June 30, 2008Amy Winehouse hit the stage – and a fan on Saturday night. A much-anticipated performance from the struggling, drug-addicted singer stole the attention of more than 80,000 fans at the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, England. Her smooth, rehearsed performance closed with an unexpected brawl between her and an unsuspecting festivalgoer. "I saw a hat being thrown from behind me and it hit Amy's beehive," James Gostelow told the BBC. "She looked down, saw me looking up, and her elbow went for me." The 25-year-old London resident claims Winehouse hit him by mistake. "She caught my forehead then someone may have shouted something from the back, which is when she went in again," he added. In an Usmagazine.com video report, Winehouse is captured throwing her elbow into a crowd of fans while finishing up her performance. A bouncer, then, intercepts the 24-year-old's scuffle. Gostelow told Usmagazine.com that he doesn't plan to lay charges. "Not everyone can say they've been hit by Amy...," he said. Glastonbury was the infamous Brit's second show of the weekend. Friday night she performed for Nelson Mendela's 90th birthday tribute in London. Summary by: Jocelyn Nespiak for Star! News Photograph courtesy Getty Images/ Matt Cardy |
