Wednesday, July 16, 2008Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth has an impersonator in Ontario! Recap: Last week the story surfaced that the eccentric rocker was pulled over for speeding by Ontario Provincial Police. The officers realized he was having a severe allergic reaction and sent him to a local hospital for treatment. The identity of the man didn't concern them at the time. "I was just trying to help him," Const. Chris Thompson – one of the officers on the scene – told the Toronto Sun. The recent media attention prompted O.P.P. officials to investigate further. The incident occurred on May 23; however the real Roth was performing with Van Halen in New York City that night. So who was the driver? David Kuntz from Cambridge, Ontario was identified as the David Lee Roth imposter. And it didn't take long to figure him out. Kuntz, on his rural road trip, stopped in at a local pub and convinced patrons that he was the famous "mouth of Halen". He performed with the bar's band and posed in pictures with fans. But those pictures quickly turned up in newspapers and a handful of people recognized and identified the phony. Nice try Kuntz... Summary by: Jocelyn Nespiak for Star!
